GTA VI Trailer 3 on April 14?! The Rumor Everyone Is Talking About

A new date is making rounds across the GTA community right now — April 14. And depending on who you ask, it's either the most exciting thing you'll hear this week or a story you've heard before.

A post claiming that insider "Chris Marxx" has pinpointed April 14 as the drop date for GTA VI Trailer 3, along with pre-orders going live simultaneously, has spread rapidly across social media and GTA forums. Here's what you need to know before you clear your calendar.

The Chris Marxx Problem

The name "Chris Marxx" and this exact format — "The GTA 6 Trailer 3 is expected to be revealed on [date], according to the reputable insider Chris Marxx" — has been used before. It originated from the account @GTASixJoker, which is a self-described "#1 Source for PARODY GTA 6 and Red Dead News." The same account previously claimed Trailer 3 would drop on November 4, 2025. That date came and went with absolutely nothing from Rockstar.

April 14 is almost certainly the same template, a new date swapped in for a new cycle of hype. Chris Marxx is not a recognized name in gaming journalism and has no documented track record of legitimate information.

That said — and this is the important part — dismissing the date doesn't mean dismissing the window. Because the real signals pointing toward an imminent Trailer 3 are very much real.

How Rockstar Actually Drops Trailers

Let's get the facts straight, because this matters for understanding what's coming.

Rockstar officially confirmed GTA VI's existence in February 2022. The first trailer was announced in November 2023 by Rockstar co-founder Sam Houser, who confirmed it would arrive in early December as part of the studio's 25th anniversary. On December 1, Rockstar posted the exact date and time on X — Tuesday, December 5, 9AM ET — with a full countdown on their website.

Trailer 2 was different. It dropped in May 2025 with far less advance warning, arriving shortly before a Take-Two earnings call. That's the pattern — Trailer 1 had a proper announcement window, Trailer 2 was much closer to a shadow drop. What Trailer 3 follows is anyone's guess, but the Newswire silence right now is the closest signal we have.

Evidence for Something Coming Soon

Rockstar published a consolidated three-week GTA Online roadmap in mid-March, covering all bonuses, rewards, and challenges through April 1. This was the first deviation from the studio's decade-long weekly Thursday update schedule in recent memory, effectively clearing roughly 20 days of routine Newswire activity in a single post.

That Newswire gap mirrors what happened before both previous trailers. In both cases, the studio's routine communications tapered off before the drop. Rockstar simply went quiet, then released with minimal warning.

On top of that, content creator and industry insider GameRiot shared on social media that he had heard rumblings from contacts within the game press suggesting Rockstar could reveal something in April, though he was careful to frame it purely as a rumor.

Pre-Orders Are Coming

Even if April 14 is fabricated, the pre-order element is something most analysts genuinely agree on.

Analysts predict GTA VI pre-orders could go live around May or June 2026, aligning with the summer marketing push and Take-Two's next earnings call, following the pattern set by Red Dead Redemption 2, which opened pre-orders roughly five months before launch.

Despite the game being revealed years ago, digital pre-orders are still unavailable on either the PlayStation Store or Xbox Marketplace. The recent addition of GTA VI title IDs to the PlayStation database suggests that backend infrastructure for pre-orders is actively being prepared.
Pre-orders are coming. Whether they arrive alongside Trailer 3 or shortly after is the open question.

What Trailer 3 Is Expected to Show

Trailer 3 sits in an expected window of late April to June 2026, based on the marketing timeline confirmed by Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick. While a full campaign officially kicks off this summer, a pre-campaign trailer drop is not out of the question — it would warm up the audience before the major marketing push begins.

Where the first trailer introduced the vibe and atmosphere of Vice City and Leonida, and Trailer 2 focused on Jason and Lucia as protagonists, Trailer 3 is widely expected to go deeper — gameplay systems, side activities, mission structure, and a proper look at the scale of the open world.

The Bottom Line

April 14 as a specific date almost certainly came from the same parody account that's been cycling fake Trailer 3 dates for months. But the broader claim — that Trailer 3 and pre-orders are coming very soon — is backed by more legitimate signals than almost anything else circulating right now.

Rockstar won't announce the trailer in advance this time. Watch the Newswire. Watch what happens around the May earnings call. Whatever date they pick, you'll find out when everyone else does.
