A strange new rumor is spreading online, claiming GTA VI has allegedly failed console certification on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S a massive 36 times.
The claim originally came from a Reddit user under the nickname Ayershole, and the discussion gained attention after Jason Schreier appeared in the thread. Another user, supposedly connected to the game industry, added extra details.
According to the rumor, the issue is tied to Rockstar’s new internal anti-cheat system, reportedly being developed specifically for GTA VI Online without relying on third-party solutions.
The main problem is said to be background monitoring. Even when the game is paused or resumed through quick resume, the anti-cheat allegedly continues running checks - something that could violate Sony and Microsoft certification rules, which don’t allow inactive games to keep monitoring data in the background.
So far, none of this has been confirmed by Rockstar or Take-Two, and Reddit rumors should always be treated carefully.
Still, the idea of Rockstar building a serious anti-cheat for GTA VI Online isn’t surprising - especially after the chaos GTA Online has faced for years.
