The head of Take-Two Interactive, Strauss Zelnick, has shared new thoughts on the future of gaming while also making a confident claim about GTA VI’s reach.
In a recent interview, Zelnick made it clear that modern AI tools won’t be able to replicate what makes big games successful:
"The notion that somehow new tools would allow an individual to push a button and generate a hit and bring it to many millions of consumers around the world, it’s a laughable notion."
According to him, while technology can help developers work faster and create assets, it doesn’t replace human creativity, which remains essential for building major hits.
He also noted that despite thousands of games releasing every year, the biggest successes still come from large, experienced studios, not from automated tools.
Zelnick didn’t hold back when talking about GTA 6’s potential audience. In another statement, he suggested the game’s appeal will be nearly universal:
"If you have a console and you’re over 17, just explain to me how is it that you’ve decided, no GTA 6, not interested. I just don’t see it."
Zelnick compared AI tools to older technological shifts, explaining that new tools have always improved production — but never replaced the need for talent and creativity.
His overall message is simple: technology evolves, but hit games still depend on people, not automation.
