A touching story is spreading across the GTA community after it was revealed that Rockstar Games allowed a terminally ill fan to play GTA VI before its official release.
The situation became public after a family member shared an emotional message online, explaining that their relative has been battling cancer for years and recently received devastating news - doctors estimated he has 6 to 12 months left to live.
The family member said the fan is a lifelong GTA player and feared he might not survive long enough to experience GTA VI when it finally launches.
In the message, they asked Rockstar Games and Rockstar Toronto for a private playtest, noting they fully understood confidentiality requirements and would be willing to sign an NDA.
Shortly after the post gained attention, the author updated the message, confirming that they had spoken with Rockstar and received good news:
"Today we spoke with representatives from the studio and got wonderful news. That’s all I can say, but from the bottom of my heart, thank you to every one of you."
While Rockstar didn’t share details, the update strongly suggests the studio granted the request.
It’s a rare moment that shows Rockstar’s human side - and a reminder that for many fans, GTA isn’t just a game, it’s something they’ve grown up with.
