A strange PlayStation Network bug has led to a funny situation - PS5 users can now make it look like they’re playing GTA VI, even though the game isn’t out yet.

How It Works

Recently, official GTA VI identifiers (IDs) were added to the PlayStation database. By using simple workarounds, players can attach these IDs to their profiles.

As a result:

  • the game appears in recently played titles
  • friends can see the status “Playing GTA VI”

Of course, this doesn’t give access to the actual game - it’s just a visual trick.

Why This Is Important?

The appearance of these IDs is a much bigger deal than the bug itself. Usually, adding game identifiers to PSN happens relatively close to pre-orders opening.

A similar timeline was seen with Red Dead Redemption 2:

  • IDs appeared months before launch
  • pre-orders followed later
  • release came after that

If GTA VI follows a similar pattern, this could be one of the first real signs that pre-orders are getting closer.
