After Rockstar Games announced that GTA VI has been delayed to November next year, Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick shared an official statement explaining the company’s position.
"When we announce a release date, we truly believe in it. At the time of the previous delay, we already said that if the game needs more time to become better, we will give it that time. And that is exactly what happened.
We are very confident in the new release date. It still falls within this fiscal year, it lands at a convenient time for launch, and we fully support Rockstar’s approach.
Our goal is to give players as much confidence as possible. And again, we are confident in this date.
The release isn’t that far away, considering how much time is needed to prepare a game for launch. And it’s also important for us to begin the marketing campaign in advance. We simply want players to have clarity and confidence. And once again - we are very happy with this date."
Zelnick’s words strongly suggest that Take-Two is not pressuring Rockstar with deadlines. Instead, the publisher seems willing to give the studio as much time as needed to deliver the best possible version of GTA VI.
As disappointing as any delay may feel, Rockstar’s reputation is built on polish and detail - and if extra time helps avoid mistakes, most fans would agree it’s worth it.
