During Take-Two's latest financial results call, CEO Strauss Zelnick dropped a fascinating hint about the company's plans for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. While discussing future support, he made comments that have the entire GTA community buzzing.

A Shift in Nintendo Strategy

For years, many publishers viewed Nintendo consoles as primarily for younger audiences or first-party exclusives. Zelnick confirmed this thinking has changed.

"There was a time when Nintendo platforms were really geared at younger audiences... and that was reflected in our release schedule. And now today with Switch and potentially with Switch 2, the Switch device can support any audience."

He emphasized this new approach by pointing to Civilization VII, which is confirmed for Switch. Take-Two, he concluded, "would fully expect to support Switch 2".

What Does This Mean for GTA 6?

This is the part that excites us. While Zelnick was careful not to confirm any specific titles (likely due to restrictions from Nintendo), he did indicate that no game was "off the table" for the new console.
This statement immediately sparks the big question: could Grand Theft Auto 6 actually get a Switch 2 release? The idea of playing a full-scale, next-generation Vice City on a handheld device is a massive prospect.

A Healthy Dose of Reality

Of course, we have to consider the technical side. GTA 6 is set to push the boundaries of what the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S can do. The biggest question remains whether the Switch 2 will have the technical prowess to run such a demanding game.

It's also possible Take-Two is eyeing the new platform for other major hits, like expanding the already dominant GTA 5 and GTA Online to a new audience.

For now, this is far from a confirmation. But it's the first official signal from the very top that a portable GTA 6 isn't an impossible dream, but a completely possible reality.
